I have seasons 1 and 2 on DVD! I’m so happy! woooh!
One of the downsides to the chemo which I’m noticing is that it seems to have an impact on all my senses. My sense of smell and taste in particular are very subdued. I can drink a coke and it tastes like water – it’s really quite bizarre. This also means that, when it comes to food, right now I’m craving really strongly flavoured things, like curry. I had a curry on Monday, I think today will have to be Taco Del Mar day, with extra hot salsa and jalapenos.. it’s the only way I’ll get any taste sensation.
Chemo again today.. Talked to Dr. Kovach and found out that the ‘no alcohol’ rule can be bent a little bit, so an occasional beer is allowed, which makes me very happy. Also scheduled for another CT scan in 2 weeks to verify that the chemo is working. This means I have these 2 massive bottles of barium gunk to drink before going in.. It’s really hard to drink this stuff without throwing it all up again, so I’m not looking forward to that.
INR was 2.9 yesterday, which is pretty much perfect. Dr. Kovach said I’d have to stay on the Coumadin (blood thinner) for another 4 months, basically, which sucks, but at least now I know I can have a beer from time to time.
I’m in a cycle now where the first few days after chemo I feel like hell, then for the rest of that week I feel very tired and weak, and then I have 2 weeks of feeling better than I’ve felt in the last 8 months or so. This is making the chemo worse, because I go from feeling really well to feeling like utter crap (whereas before, I went from feeling like utter crap to.. utter crap). Dr. Kovach said that depending on the CT results, I may only have to have a total of 6 sessions, which would mean only 3 more.. so we’ll see. Fingers crossed that’s the case.
