Portion sizes in America

4 years I’ve been living in the US, and the portion sizes at restaurants still seem completely ridiculous. This evening, I ordered the steak fajitas, and was provided with a plate of food sufficient to feed me, Sarah, and a small African nation, for a mere $12.95. Now I know this is the land of plenty etc. but surely basic economics would dictate that someone should be saying "Well hang on a minute. If we reduce portion sizes by say, 25%, we can reduce the cost by, say 10%, pocket the difference, attract more customers, save a bunch of money on food supplies, be generally less wasteful and still keep the customers happy" ?

I’d think so, anyway.

    Oh, but why?

I mean, anything worth doing, is worth doing to excess right?

    That’s the American Dream. =)

Hunter S. Thompson has taught me that the American Dream is only to be found in Vegas :)

Yeah the portions at Azteca are ridiculous. And I like good Mexican food. Which Azteca isn’t.

I quite like Azteca. Not to say it’s good Mexican food, necessarily, but I find their stuff pretty tasty anyway.
